Article on holiday entertaining Host Extraordinaire Fall issue of West of the City (October - December 2004) Owner of Encore Events and Encore Weddings, Joy Moyles says she’s grateful the trend has finally turned around and entertaining is once again conducted in an overstated manner instead of the understated simplicity of a few years ago. She says that next to cuisine, the most important element of entertaining is the ‘awe factor’ - the visual presentation that sets the tone for the success of the event… Custom textures and colours, beautiful centrepieces, wine bottle wraps, knife rests, seating cards, menu cards and layered dishes are just some of the items she incorporates into table settings to create the perfect compliment to any type of entertaining.

March 29, 30 & 31, 2005 "So You Want To Be a Wedding Planner…" Seminar presentation by Joy Moyles (Watch site for upcoming seminar’s on Wedding Planning) Article on Remarriage Spring issue of West of the City (April June 2005) When it comes to second marriages, the myth that the entire celebration must be more subdued has been dispelled. “It certainly holds the same sort of magic and is as important as the first time or maybe even more so”, says Mississauga-based Wedding Planner, Joy Moyles. Her business, Encore Weddings, was originally founded to cater to what Moyles terms as ‘repeat performers’ - couples who are celebrating remarriage, but it has blossomed into a much sought after service for all weddings. With added life experience and broader relationship views, couples remarrying have a more mature and educated outlook. They tend to approach the wedding experience with a completely different perspective than a first-time pair and younger couple. Notes Moyles, “remarriage is a partnership where goals and aspirations are more clearly defined”. FAQ of the Month: What is the difference between a Bridal Consultant, a Wedding Coordinator and a Wedding Planner? Answer: Bridal Consultants do exactly that consult. They work with the couple during the planning process making suggestions, recommending products and suppliers and they basically offer guidance and assistance while the wedding is being planned. They may or may not be requested to be on site the day of the wedding. Wedding Coordinators usually work for a specific venue and coordinate the details that are being provided by that particular venue. Their role is similar to that of a Bridal Consultant in that they assist the client with some of the planning, but their main role is to be on site the day of the wedding to ensure that all the venue’s products and services are provided. Wedding Planners are all three rolled into one. They consult, advise, suggest, recommend, source out, book and make all the arrangements as directed by the clients and may or may not handle the entire planning process. They also take the flack and find a solution if and when something goes wrong! Got a question? Ask our expert, J Mo The Wedding Planner |
